The cell phone market is constantly in a state of change. With new innovations and technology coming onto the market place almost on a weekly basis, means if you have the same cell phone for a year it’s probably going to be updated. Then again it really depends what you’re using your cell phone for. Originally simply used them to make phone calls, which at the time was a novel idea. Nowadays we use them to call family and friends, send text messages, send e-mail, access the Internet, play games, take photographs and used the many applications that have now become available.

We have moved so far away from the original idea more into content driven as more and more applications become available for our cellular phones like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter you also starting to see the cellular phone become more of a social media engaging device. This is really an interesting concept but I guess we’re also seeing it as a multimedia device as many people use them for music, recording video, watching television, and watching movies it really has changed completely.

Smart phones have really changed our whole approach to using our phone simply for making phone calls. A smart phone with touchscreen allows us to use the user interface more freely and to be honest makes it much more enjoyable to navigate around the various menu systems without getting completely lost and confused. As our cell phones become more sophisticated it’s also important that the major manufacturers like Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Samsung, LG etc. also consider how we interact with the user interface to make navigation and using the various applications available much easier.

But the whole concept of the Apple iPhone was first introduced it was a revolution in terms of how we use our phones on a daily basis and how we navigate the menu systems. The whole concept also of the Apple applications store has made it much easier for consumers to access various applications that are available previous to this it was always quite daunting to find software that was compatible with your cell phone.

The future looks really bright and over the past three years we have seen a massive turnaround in cellular phone technology. We are also starting to see smart phones moving into the mass market because of the price reductions that the cellular providers are making. Things can only really get better.
